Gault&Millau's review 2026

In this sleepy town lies a restaurant whose interior transports you to a bygone era of chivalry. The menu remains traditional, opening with stewed beef tripe - a quintessential comfort food of the Balkan and Apennine peninsulas. This thick stew, seasoned with paprika and vegetables, features tender tripe that caresses the palate, serving as a reminder of the gastronomic paradox where the most wonderful dishes are born of necessity and ingenuity. Next is the Pastirska pljeskavica, a regional icon. This succulent melange of fresh ground beef and leeks is served with a dollop of sour cream, where the sweetness of the caramelized leeks provides a fabulous complement to the finely seasoned meat. The meal concludes with a filled pancake that reimagines the ultimate sweet pie. Stuffed with sour cherry compote and fried in a crust of cornflakes, almonds, and walnuts, it is drizzled with chocolate sauce and crowned with sour cream. The combination of cream, chocolate, and tart cherry juice achieves a sensory Zen - the very balance alchemists once sought.
