Gault&Millau's review 2026

Near the Zemun quay sits a restaurant that has quietly won the hearts of Japanese cuisine lovers in Belgrade. The friendly staff navigates the menu with ease and genuine enthusiasm, and culinary passion is legible in every plate. Begin with the crispy mix - nori seaweed, fried fish scales and rice paper - a lucid, textured opener that sets the tone. Tempura, gyoza and edamame round out a confident warm-up. Tuna tartare and the salmon and Wagyu Aburi carpaccio with beetroot follow with quiet refinement, while the tuna steak in teriyaki sauce with seasonal vegetables makes a convincing centrepiece. Ramen arrives in two versions - chicken and pork belly - alongside a well-crafted miso soup. The sushi selection moves from clean sashimi and nigiri into rolls of genuine ambition: Crunchy Ebi with two sauces, Maguro Togarashi with tuna, mango, chili and mint, and Creamy Sake with Japanese mayonnaise and citrus caviar. The buns - slow-cooked pork or panko chicken - are not to be skipped, nor are the udon noodles in sweet and spicy sauce. The undisputed star is the WagyuA5, served with seasonal vegetables, teriyaki sauce and nori chips, finished with Szechuan pepper. The space is intimate and the tables fill quickly - make your reservation ahead.
