Gault&Millau's review 2026

At this restaurant, the cuisines of Pirot and Italy collide in gloriously unconventional fashion - much like the interior itself - and the result, against all odds, works beautifully. Begin with the classics: Melanzane Parmigiana or in vine leaf rolls, both executed with genuine fidelity to their respective traditions. Among the appetizers, Topal Đubek - a steamed Pirot cheese - stands out before the menu pivots to Italy through a selection of excellent handmade pasta. Spicy gnocchi with goat cheese impress, as do creamy ravioli filled with pistachio cream and pecorino, resting on a silky porcini sauce. The Lasagna Bolognese is a quietly confident classic. From there, the journey shifts back to Pirot - spicy lučići, Pirot ćevapi, an excellent pljeskavica and šušpe, dried peppers stuffed with meat and baked in an earthenware pot. Aged steaks occupy the ground between the two culinary destinations, alongside an unexpected ambassador of Frenchcuisine. Tournedo Rossini, the undisputed star of the menu, presents a tender steak crowned with lightly seared, creamy goose liver and draped in a composed Madeira sauce. If there’s room, the Tres Leches is excellent.
