Gault&Millau's review 2026

In the hush of Gostilj waterfalls, within unspoiled nature near Zlatibor, lies a restaurant that cultivates the spirit of authentic homemade cooking. The ambiance is strongly connected to the surroundings, offering a sense of stepping away from the everyday, while the rustic atmosphere invites slow, mindful enjoyment of the meal. The kitchen leans on old recipes and ingredients from nearby villages, to serving tradition on the plate without unnecessary intervention. The selection is diverse, so rely on the kindly and knowledgeable staff’s suggestions. Gostilj polenta with cow’s cheese, bacon, and kajmak brings fullness of flavor and a texture that evokes nostalgia. Tečina šljiva, marinated and served in spicy honey with goat cheese and almonds, delivers a play of sweet-salty notes. Vučji flambéed bite-the sataraš with goat cheese flambéed in rakija-imparts a simple dish with pronounced character. Among the main dishes, pork belly slow-roasted under the sač, succulent and marbled, with mash, grilled vegetables, and rich sauce, and lamb, slow cooked in milk in an earthen pot, stand out. A pie of dried plums baked in a wood-fired oven, with hand-stretched crusts and a rich filling, brings the meal to a warm and fitting close.
